90% less plastic waste with the CellScrew®!

The CellScrew® is a novel single-use cell culture device with a high growth area to volume ratio. It can simply be used in any bottle or tube roller. The TC-treated surface of the CellScrew® is suitable for the cultivation of adherent cell lines. It is made from plant derived PLA by an additive manufacturing process. By this, we were able to reduce its carbon footprint ~ 90% when compared to standard single-use cell culture dishes.

Plastic waste
is so 1990!

Working as researchers in academia and the industry, it is shocking to see the enormous amount of single-use plastic waste accumulating.

To tackle this challenge, we set out to provide a simple cultivation device with better growth area to volume ratio made from renewable material. And now the innovation is here: the CellScrew®!

The Team

Starting Green Elephant Biotech GmbH in December 2021, the founders and general managers Dr. Joel Eichmann and Felix Wollenhaupt got Dr. Lukas Käßer on board to lead the research and development department in April 2022.

Björn Boshof started as Research Scientist in June 2022.

In addition, Lea Ramming and Ruzica Sedic support Green Elephant Biotech as working students.

Together, the Green Elephant Biotech team strives to provide solutions for today’s challenges in cell- and gene therapy as well as other areas of biotechnology.
